Why Cotton

Most clothes today are made from plastic

Check the tag on almost anything in your closet and you will probably see polyester, nylon, or acrylic. These are synthetic fibers, and they are made from the same stuff as plastic bottles. Polyester alone makes up about 59% of all the fiber produced in the world. Cotton is only about 19%.*

Why that matters

  • Synthetics trap heat. Plastic-based fabric does not let air move through it the way cotton does, so it can feel hot and sticky on your skin.
  • They do not absorb moisture well. Sweat tends to sit on the fabric instead of being soaked up.
  • They shed plastic. Every wash releases tiny plastic fibers into the water. One major report estimated that washing synthetic clothes accounts for about 35% of the microplastics released into the oceans.*

Why our clothes are only cotton

  • It breathes. Air moves through cotton, so you stay cooler and more comfortable.
  • It is soft. Cotton feels good on your skin and gets softer with every wash.
  • It is natural. Cotton grows from a plant. It is not made from oil.
  • It is easy. Easy to wear, easy to wash, easy to love.

Our promise

Every piece of clothing at Brunella is made from 100% cotton fabric. No polyester blends. If a top, dress, or set is not cotton, we do not sell it.
